Plagiarism Detection Policy and Manuscript Originality
Un Espacio para la Ciencia uses Turnitin software to verify the originality of all submitted manuscripts. This check is performed before the peer review process begins.
Only unpublished and original work is accepted. Manuscripts must not be under consideration by any other journal.
Similarity thresholds:
-
≤ 30% total similarity (excluding references and common phrases): the manuscript proceeds to peer review.
-
> 30%: the manuscript is returned to the author with observations for revision.
-
Intentional plagiarism or extensive self-plagiarism: the manuscript is immediately rejected. The decision is formally communicated to the corresponding author, along with a similarity report.
Similarity checks also apply to figures, tables, and appendices. Revised versions may be re-screened with Turnitin prior to final acceptance.
