Study of the determinant factors of Public Investment in Ecuador 2007-2017

The study of the determinant factors of public investment is proposed with the objective of analyzing which variables affected the public investment processes executed through the annual investment plans in the period 2007-2017. The methodology used provides a descriptive framework that highlights the analysis of variables such as tax collection, GDP, public debt and public investment. Likewise, a study of correlations between public investment through the PAIs and relevant variables is used, in addition to the application of a regression study. On one hand, the results indicate that variables such as tax collection and private investment have positive effects on public investment. On the other hand, the regression determines a positive relationship between GDP and investment and an inverse relationship with respect to public debt. The results imply the need to develop a public policy of public investment that is territorially fairer; the same is replicated for tax policy.
